Hey all,
What do you do when you've completed a significant accomplishment in your current position, after interviewing for a new opportunity?
I'm involved in a long interview/hiring process. I had 3 interviews with "X" company in November. Their recruiter tells me I'm one of two finalists, but that various issues are delaying the final decision. The exact statement was, "hopefully by the end of the year."
In the meantime, I have a new accomplishment in my current position that directly relates to something the prospective new company wants to do. What's the best way to handle that? Send a quick email to the hiring manager? Assume they already have enough information on me?
I've called the recruiter weekly, but I've only followed up once post-interviews with the hiring manager. Thoughts?
Dan

Send Updated Resume
I would send the recruiter an updated resume and state that you are sending an updated resume and please note these specific accomplishments that have been achieved during the duration of this interview process. You may even pull them out separately into an e-mail so the recruiter can easily see it and forward it to the hiring manager.
Good Luck.
John
addendum
if you do add the accomplishments to the email, make sure to note that you are sending these as they speak to how you would perform should you be hired into the position. Tie back how these accomplishments relate to the position and add value to the organization you are interviewing with.
Incorporate into follow up
Whether you follow up by email or phone, this would be a great opportunity to vary your message with a line or two about how you recently did blah, blah, blah and how that ties into the new job.
About updating your resume, I certainly don't think it would hurt, but remember the purpose of the resume is to get an interview, which you've already done. So there's no compelling need to try and replace the old version with the updated one. They'll hire you based on your performance in the interviews and how you conduct yourself during follow-up (compared to the other candidates).
Good luck!
