What Is Manager Tools®?
Manager Tools was created to serve a need, the need for there to be better managers and leaders in this world! Managers are rarely given actionable guidance about how to succeed and what they can actually DO to be an effective leader. All too often when managers receive guidance, it’s misguided or not actionable. At Manager Tools we believe in behavior, and we collect data, so that you can learn to engage in activities which are proven to increase results and retention.
Who Are The Voices Of Manager Tools?
Sarah Horstman, Managing Partner. Sarah earned her degree in Psychology from the University of Alberta. It is there that she started her career, employing Manager Tools’ principles and methodologies within the administration of a unionized public service environment. Sarah can be heard co-hosting our podcast, Manager Tools. Sarah also serves as one of our presenting associates, training folks on our guidance. And she also helped co-author the book, The Effective Manager, Second Edition.
Mark Horstman, Co-Founder. Mark is the author of The Effective Manager, which has sold over 50,000 copies, The Effective Hiring Manager, and co-authored The Effective Manager, Second Edition. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. Following his service, he worked in Sales and Marketing at Procter and Gamble prior to starting Manager Tools. Mark is retired from day-to-day operations after having written and hosted the Manager Tools Podcast for 17 years. That said, Mark remains as board member and writer and co-host of the Executive Tools podcast.
Mike Auzenne, Co-Founder & Board Chair. Mike is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. Following his service, he worked in Information Technology prior to starting Manager Tools. Mike is retired from day-to-day operations after having hosted the Manager Tools Podcast for 17 years. That said, Mike remains as co-host of the Executive Tools podcast and Chair of the Board of Manager Tools.
Amanda Chase, Presenter. Amanda has a background in health care, assisting people with learning functional skills to help improve their lives. Amanda attended the Arizona State University, where she graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and then completed her Master of Science at A.T. Still University. Prior to Manager Tools Amanda worked as an Occupational Therapist in the Mesa and Gilbert Public Schools, with children with learning disabilities. Amanda Chase has been delivering training, virtual and in-person, for Manager Tools since 2022.
Wendii Lord, former voice of Career Tools. Wendii was a part of the Manager Tools team for many years before moving on to new adventures. She wrote several of our weekly Career Tools Podcasts and her guidance even won Best Business Podcast. Wendii grew up in London and earned her bachelor’s degrees (in Business and German) and master’s degree in international business, from the University of Central Lancashire.
Kate Braun, Director of Emerging Markets. Kate’s voice was a familiar presence on Manager Tools before she moved into a strategic role. Kate is a BSME graduate of Tulane University who used Manager Tools principles in her previous role as a missile defence engineer. Kate also serves as a presenting associate, training on the guidance we provide. And she helped co-author the book, The Effective Manager, Second Edition.
How Does Manager Tools Help?
Manager Tools produces 3 podcasts aimed at managers, professionals, and executives – they are titled Manager Tools®, Career Tools®, and Executive Tools™. These podcasts are designed to give managers, individual contributors and executives, actionable recommendations to further their careers.
At Manager Tools we provide products which are designed to enhance manager, executive and individual contributor effectiveness. Most of our digital products can be accessed by becoming part of the Manager Tools Community. We also sell DISC Assessments and books we've authored separate from membership access.
And we host events, internationally, for those who’re hoping to meet us in person!
