New Job - thinking of leaving

Hi,

I was hoping the forum could help me out on some career advice.  I have been involved in a new job for about 1.5 months now and I am thinking of leaving.

As soon as I joined on, I realized that the job was not as advertised.  A direct left the team, and I was denied a backfill.  Another direct announced their resignation and that person refused an exit interview.  Some of the duties as posted in the job have been reassigned to a different department.

Thoughts?  I accept the responsibility that I should have probed deeper during the interview process.

I would start by having one on ones with every member of your team to assess the situation.

I implemented One on Ones about a week after I had started.  I have opened up communications and built trust, but the situation remains.

Sounds like a interesting challenge, what is it you dont like?
Many team across the world would like more people and is regular cut in headcount. Key as the manage is to ensure you find new and more effective ways of doing things. In the future you will most likely do what you do today with even less people

As Mike & Mark would say - Cope, Perform, Decide.

Treat this as a valuable experience and learn all you can about coping.  Then, once you have excelled, or at least performed adequately, decide if it’s a win in the long run.

One way to look at this is, when you’re having a bad day (or week), imagine yourself at an interview explaining how you coped with the situation.

Also, I think 6 weeks is a little early to throw in the towel, if the next position is not ideal, you may end up with a spotty resume.

There is not a great feeling amonst my team. I accepted a position below the advertised role initially becasuse of my lack of experience in the industry but haven't moved up despite promises. I've been working for 15 months now and have been told that the promotion will come in another 4 months. The problem is I'm not sure the work will change much.
My boss has promissed more responsibility and team members but so far has jumped in on my projects and micro-managed things. I've given feedback in the MT way but it's not getting through. I've sat with my team and heard complaints about the lack of opportunity to express ideas. My O3s are great but I feel boxed-in and my colleagues are too. I've also tried talking to my bosses boss but they're good friends and the promisses were repeated. Problem is I don't really respect my boss. I've set up an internal shared wiki page for my team and there are some good discussions but I can't impliment anything becasue my boss won't allow it. Now I'm thinking of changing jobs. Any other suggestions on angles to attack this from?
Thanks
